Dual Language Academy Empowers Multilingual Learning

With the growing number of multilingual learners in the state of New Jersey, dual language programming supports students in maintaining their home language of Spanish/English as they acquire a second language. With very few New Jersey school districts offering dual language programs, NPSD has a unique opportunity to act as a role model in the area.

Mission

At Stony Brook School, our mission is to live, learn and grow together appreciating and respecting our culturally rich backgrounds and understanding the importance of serving our community. Stony Brook School is a K-4th grade school with a comprehensive academic program. Our instruction is aligned with the Common Core Curriculum Standards. The curriculum offers our students reading/language arts, mathematics, social studies, world language and science curricula which emphasizes reading and writing fluency as well as technology. All subjects are integrated into the content areas of art, music, physical education, health and library skills.

Charles Thomas '15

Charles graduated from Norwich University with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 2020. He is currently a Police Officer with the United States Capitol Police where he loves his career and being able to make his family proud.

Yanqing graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in May 2022 with a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering with a concentration and graduate certificate in Water Resources after completing a 5-year Cooperative Education program.

Dr. Oluwatosin Oluokun '03

Dr. Oluwatosin Oluokun is the founder and CEO of Dr. OHHH Juice. As an entrepreneur and clinical nutritionist, Oluwatosin is deeply passionate about the impact her career has on the lives of others. By owning a business in the field of nutrition and wellness, she has the opportunity to reach a wide range of individuals and make a positive difference in their health and well-being.

Jason Le '16

Jason earned his Bachelor’s Degree from New York University (NYU) before pursuing a Master’s Degree at Columbia University. He has since returned to NYU, where he is currently working toward his Ph.D. in the Sociology of Education. Alongside his doctoral studies, Jason serves as an Academic Advisor at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, a role he deeply values
